Financial Controller

Investigo are partnering a highly reputable leisure company, to recruit a Financial Controller on a permanent basis.

Reporting into the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller is responsible for the accuracy of the accounts, the management of AP, and AR, accuracy of the balance sheet, managing cash flow and for overseeing the financial accounting team in their day to day operations. You will also be the key contact for technical accounting queries, hence a strong audit background, would be a strong preference.

• Ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and reported in line with all relevant regulations and legislation to include but not limited to revenue recognition, VAT, and fixed assets
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance and where appropriate collaborate with the external auditors to ensure compliance with all regulations
• Coordinate and prepare the draft year end statutory accounts with supporting schedules, liaising with all required stakeholders including the external auditors.
• Management of the balance sheet to ensure the whole of the balance sheet is reconciled by the financial accounts team and reviewed by the Financial Controller on a timely basis. To include reconciliation of Retail Stock and sales previously overseen by the finance business partner team
• Management of the accounts receivable function ensuring that overdue debtors are kept to a minimum and that bank reconciliations are completed on a timely basis
• Management of the accounts payable function ensuring that suppliers are paid on correct terms, that statements are reconciled on a timely basis and that the automated system is set up to work efficiently and effectively
• Ensure that data is accurately passed between systems with relevant checks in place to maintain the integrity of the data
• Responsible for testing and sign off of the annual systems upgrade
• Support Head of Finance on the management of short and long term cash flow through tracking transactions, developing modelling to forecast movements
• Preparation of the monthly cash flow and balance sheet
• Run the month end and year end close process
• Update, review and document the organisations financial policies and procedures and ensure that the Finance Manual is kept up to date
• Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems and finance processes to improve efficiencies and accuracy.
• Develop and coach the financial accounting team, clarifying roles and providing feedback

Looking for:

• Qualified ACA or ACCA ideally from an audit background
• Experience of managing teams, either in an industry role, or as an audit manager
• The ability to adapt to change and always looking to improve processes
• Strong attention to detail and able to partnering across all levels of finance
