Northampton | Up to £85k + 10% Bonus + Benefits

Role Description


We are seeking an ambitious and commercially-minded Financial Controller to join a dynamic FMCG business experiencing exceptional growth. This is a hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to drive financial excellence while working closely with a talented Finance Director. You'll be instrumental in supporting the company's exciting growth trajectory, taking ownership of all technical accounting functions whilst implementing process improvements that will scale with the business.

Experience & Personality Requirements


Essential Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Proven experience in year-end processes, statutory accounts preparation, and technical accounting
  • Track record of leading and developing finance teams (minimum 5+ direct/indirect reports)
  • Experience in month-end process improvement and financial reporting streamlining
  • FMCG, manufacturing, or similar operational business experience preferred
  • Strong systems experience and process improvement mindset

Key Duties & Responsibilities


Technical Accounting & Compliance:

  • Oversee all year-end processes and statutory account preparation
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lead technical accounting matters and provide guidance on complex transactions
  • Manage external audit relationships and coordinate audit activities


Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Drive continuous improvement in month-end processes and reporting timelines
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts and KPI reporting
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support business decision-making
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting frameworks to support growth


Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 direct reports and 10 indirect reports
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with operations, sales, and other key departments
  • Implement robust processes and controls as the business scales


Strategic Business Partnership:

  • Work closely with the Finance Director on strategic financial initiatives
  • Support business growth plans through robust financial planning and analysis
  • Partner with operational teams to optimize business performance
  • Contribute to system implementations and process transformation projects
