Role Purpose
My client is seeking an Interim Employee Relations (ER) Advisor to join a UK based team. This role plays a critical part in delivering expert ER guidance across a range of functions, including operational and group-level settings, with a focus on educational and corporate environments.
The successful candidate will be an experienced ER professional who brings not only technical expertise but also a strong sense of emotional intelligence, commercial awareness, and a solution-focused approach. You will be responsible for managing complex employee relations matters while supporting strategic HR initiatives, helping to build an inclusive and legally compliant workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a lead advisor on complex and high-risk ER cases across the UK, including investigations, disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance matters.
- Provide pragmatic and timely advice on ER issues and HR policies to line managers and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to UK employment law and organisational policies while balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes.
- Partner with HR colleagues and business leaders to support organisational design and change processes, including restructures and redundancies.
- Support early resolution of workplace disputes through mediation, coaching, and facilitation techniques.
- Contribute to Employment Tribunal preparation and strategy, helping to mitigate risk and protect organisational interests.
- Design and deliver ER-focused training and upskilling initiatives for people managers.
- Continuously monitor ER trends through data and reporting tools, contributing to policy reviews and process improvements.
- Create and maintain ER toolkits and process documentation to support consistent and effective practice.
Person Specification
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
- Significant experience in a senior-level ER advisory role.
- Proven experience managing complex and sensitive ER cases end-to-end.
- Demonstrated ability to support redundancy and restructure processes.
- Strong coaching, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to hit the ground running
