Job description
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the monthly and annual financial close processes, ensuring appropriate cut off and speed of reporting.
- Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with FRS101.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital optimisation.
Stock & Inventory Control
- Oversee inventory accounting for installation materials to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Work with the Warehouse Manager to implement controls for stock movement, valuation, and reconciliation, including the use of a new Warehouse Management system.
Project Costing & Revenue Recognition
- Consider how to implement job costing.
- Apply percentage-of-completion method for revenue recognition.
- Monitor project margins and identify cost variances.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Partner with the Customers Finance team for group-level reporting and planning.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting, and internal policies.
- Oversee the year end external audits.
- Maintain and improve financial controls.
Team & People
- Work with Customers Finance team management to advise on required finance support for the future.
- Oversee financial input from existing Contact Solar members of staff (AP clerk)
- Liaise with external accountants.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline.
Qualifications & Experience
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant.
- Demonstrable hands on experience in financial management, preferably in construction, energy, or installation services.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition standards and inventory accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Sage).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
