Rail Project Manager
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver low-complexity projects or components of complex projects safely and responsibly, in line with GRIP, Network Rail standards, legislation, and HMRI guidance.
- Support the Project Sponsor in defining project requirements.
- Manage multi-disciplinary teams to identify solutions and establish robust baseline plans.
- Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigations and responding to emerging issues.
- Develop and maintain resource allocation plans, securing internal and external resources.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, considering influence and interests.
- Lead project reviews to inform governance decisions, evaluating progress, risk, and relevance.
- Establish and manage change control protocols and configuration updates.
- Support accident investigations when delegated by the designated competent person.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
- Membership (or working towards) of the Association for Project Management.
- PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Relevant experience in contracting and project delivery.
- Budget management experience.
- Sound evaluation and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of project safety management and Health & Safety legislation.
- Understanding of safety cases in support of projects.
Desirable:
- Rail industry experience, including GRIP and CDM application.
- Familiarity with Network Rail's project, investment, commercial, and procurement practices.
- Experience in risk identification and mitigation.
- Flexible, proactive approach and team-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of Network Rail's assets and asset management practices.
