Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions Screening - Private Banking

Hybrid, London.

Are you someone who has a passion for preventing transactional crime? This role is for someone who has a keen interest in not only screening transactions but also using the system and rules to optimise the alerts. You will be responsible for working as part of the FCC team to monitor transactions and ensure Compliance against relevant AFC legislations and guidance across wire transfers, cash requests, fraud, sanctions and CTF.

Responsibilities:

  • To adhere to the rules and regulations affecting the money laundering environment, including but not limited to the FCA Handbook, JMLSG, Proceeds of Crime Act, Prevention of Terrorism Act, US Patriot Act, Fraud Act, Bribery Act, Sanctions legislation and the Money Laundering Regulations
  • To maintain knowledge of all applicable legislation and best industry practice
  • Perform the timely and accurate review, investigation and record keeping of sanctions, PEP and adverse media alerts generated by the Pythagoras screening tool
  • Perform the timely and accurate review, investigation and record keeping of real time sanctions alerts generated by the GT Exchange screening tool
  • Perform the timely and accurate review, investigation and record keeping of transaction monitoring alerts generated by the SironAML screening tool
  • Assist in the Override / Block process
  • Conduct investigations relating to alerts generated through analysis of the firm records, discussion with internal staff, review of external sources
  • Utilising Transaction Monitoring experience to identify potential criminal account activity on complex customer relationships.
  • Communicating with Client Relationship Officers (CROs) in a professional and efficient manner to resolve issues.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely escalation of relevant alerts and / or other concerns to other FCC colleagues
  • Ensure complete audit trails of decisions being taken and advice provided, and the rationale behind them.
  • Using technical data analysis and statistical interpretation to identify risk factors and potential money laundering trends.
  • Making recommendations for enhancements to the performance of financial crime tools (such as calibration, scope, performance)
  • To support the MLRO & DMLRO in the management of all financial crime compliance issues.
  • To assist the business as and when required on financial crime related queries, by providing advice and guidance, outlining options and recommending solutions as appropriate.
  • To assist in the review and update of department procedures and drive system and process improvements.
  • To maintain and provide updated management information in an accurate and timely manner
  • To assist with any other regulatory tasks as might reasonably be requested by the Financial Crime Compliance Manager.

Requirements:

  • The Surveillance Analyst will have at least 3 years' relevant experience
  • The ability to write clear, professional reports is essential to the role.
  • You will have an analytical mentality suited to the role of an investigator, with the ability to research and investigate and assimilate data from various information sources and draw meaningful conclusions from the information obtained.
  • The ability to effectively interrogate Internet sources.
  • Sound knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to use them effectively to deliver professional documents and reports and conduct analysis.
