The Brief

Vestra Wealth required an Assistant Compliance Officer to join their Legal, Compliance and Risk department, to support in fulfilling the Compliance and Financial Crime functions for Vestra. Key responsibilities would include providing regulatory advice and guidance on Compliance and AML issues, undertaking monitoring, implementing procedures, reviewing financial promotions, assisting with registrations and training and working on Compliance and AML projects. The role also required some central Compliance skills

The Challenge

The challenge was to find someone with the breadth of experience required for the role coupled with the right personal attributes to suit the team and business. Vestra are a highly-professional company who are keen to attract talent who will grow and develop within the scope of their roles and who will also interact well within the team. Due to a shortage within the Asset / Wealth Management space, candidates with the appropriate level of skills, are notoriously hard to find.

The Approach

Due to the shortage of candidates as well as the market being extremely candidate driven it required Investigo to use their wider network. Through extending their reach, Investigo received referrals from senior level contacts who they regularly partner with. The search was also widened by reviewing candidates who had central compliance skills and experience from the sell-side sector, whilst ensuring that they had worked or had previous exposure to the buy-side space. The final element of the extensive search process included the continual tracking of a number of AVP candidates. The successful candidate instantly stood out from the crowd as a perfect match in skillset and team/company fit resulting in a seamless process from interview through to offer.
