Consultant Spotlight - Heather Last

Welcome to Consultant Spotlight, a series where we shine a light on the talented professionals driving success at Investigo. In each edition, we get to know one of our consultants a little better - diving into their background, expertise, and the impact they’re making across the business.

We're thrilled to spotlight Heather Last, whose ongoing contributions are instrumental to our success at Investigo.

Can you outline your role as a recruiter?

I’m a Partner at Investigo, specialising within the Interim Real Estate & Property Project / Programme Management field. I only work with referenced and recommended talent organically grown through my network. I typically place people within any consultancy or end user supporting or going through Property transformations across Construction and major Infrastructure programmes.

What types of roles/ specific areas or industries do you find yourself recruiting for?

-  Construction Project/Programme Management

-  Real Estate Strategy/Transaction Management

-  Workplace and Change Management

-  Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying

Cyou share a success story where you helped a candidate land a role that was a perfect fit for them?

This is maybe best explained by one of my candidates… 😊

"Heather is a breath of fresh air within the marketplace and her personal enthusiastic approach sets her apart from her peers. Following our initial meeting she continued to deliver, keeping me updated even if there was nothing to report and always came back to me whatever hour resulting in her securing me an amazing role. I would wholeheartedly recommend Heather to represent both Client and Candidate, as I felt as if I was her only Client. She would certainly be my first point of call on my next search. Well done and keep doing what you are doing"’

How do you see the future of recruitment evolving in the next few years?

- The biggest growth areas for me recently have been in major infrastructure and sustainability. Governments in many countries including the UK are investing in sectors like rail & aviation, as well as green energy & Nuclear. This makes for some very exciting recruitment with some cool projects that genuinely are making a difference to our planet.

-  Within real estate, I’ve seen board level conversations going on at the moment about how the use of AI is going to shape our future workforces and real estate footprints. Will there still be the same number of jobs and therefore people? This is making it difficult to look ahead and plan what the new workplace and how much real estate / office space corporates should have. It certainly makes for very interesting conversations in the board room… watch this space!

How do you stay current with industry trends and recruitment best practices?

-  My network are my life line 😊 I’m always out there on lunches, coffee’s, meetings taking care of my network, having engaging conversations, and always looking to grow my knowledge of what is happening out there in the sector. I also stay connected to industry related news articles so I’m aware of the major projects out there. You’ll often find me trying new networking events, most recently an industry Padel tournament! I love getting out of my comfort zone, which is where we find growth.
