The Past, the Present and the Future – Corporate Services, Public Sector & Not-for-Profit

​Earlier this year I hit my 6-year anniversary at Investigo. I know, not your standard milestone - but in the recruitment industry, that’s roughly the equivalent of 10 in dog years.

It got me reflecting on how far things have come since I joined in 2019. Back then, I was brought in to launch a HR offering into a team that had always focused on Procurement, Technology and Transformation. Day one was a baptism of fire - suited and booted, ready for five days of commuting, only to find the air con had broken on one of the hottest days on record. No laptops, just desktop PCs and “flexible working” meant leaving an hour earlier if you were lucky. It’s crazy to think how much has changed since then and how much we’ve evolved as a workforce.

Fast forward to 2022 - after navigating a global pandemic, moving into a new shiny office with a hybrid working model, getting engaged, and becoming a dad for the first time to my daughter, things really started to take shape at work. I’d built a strong customer base and made my first, second and third hires all within five months. Anyone who’s gone from just looking after themselves to suddenly leading a team will know how daunting (and slightly bonkers) that transition feels.

A couple of years later, our family grew again as my son arrived, and on my return from paternity leave I inherited Finance and Technology as part of my remit. Since then, the team has gone from strength to strength, and we have made some incredible hires.

Where are we now?

Today, we’re a team of 8 with nearly seven decades of combined recruitment experience across Government, Higher Education and the Not-for-Profit Sector. The ambition? To grow to 15 over the next 18–24 months. Big goal, but one we know is achievable thanks to the capability, and more importantly, the culture we’ve built together.

That culture is built on collaboration, hard work, service-first delivery, and a genuine desire to see each other succeed. Between us, we cover HR, Finance, Technology and Transformation - but what really makes the difference is how we approach our work. We focus on people, challenges and shifting priorities, not just job titles.

 Over the years, we’ve worked with organisations of all shapes and sizes - from small charities to some of the biggest names in the public sector. That variety has given us a clear view of what makes each one tick, and helped us deliver support that’s thoughtful, flexible and effective.

 What sets us apart is our focus on service. Every conversation, every placement, every partnership is treated with the care and personal touch it deserves. No one-size-fits-all. Just tailored solutions that last - whether that’s driving innovative ways to deploy talent through consultancy offerings like packaged or statement of work assignments, talent diagnostics, hire-train-deploy models, or the more traditional recruitment approaches that remain the backbone of our work.
