Job description
Electronic Communication Surveillance Business Analyst (Banking - London)
The role sits at the intersection of Compliance, Technology, and Change Delivery, helping to design and implement new communications surveillance capabilities within the bank.
They'll take ownership of the high-level design, project coordination, financial tracking, and technical delivery for a new surveillance platform (or enhancement to existing tooling). The project is currently in initiation, so strong end-to-end project delivery and stakeholder coordination experience is key.
1. Core Experience
- Electronic Communications Surveillance within Banking or Financial Services (essential).
- Has delivered or integrated new surveillance technologies into existing communication environments.
- Experience leading or coordinating across Compliance, Risk, IT, and Operations teams.
- Strong understanding of project governance, financial tracking, and delivery lifecycle.
2. Technical / Tool Knowledge
Experience with (one or more):
- Smarsh, NICE, SteelEye, Behavox, Global Relay, Shield, Proofpoint, or similar platforms.
- Integration of WeChat, WeCom, WhatsApp, Symphony, Teams, and social media channels into surveillance systems.
- Understanding of data capture, storage, archiving, and alerting workflows.
3. Delivery / Change Management
- Skilled at coordinating high-level design, requirements gathering, project phasing, and resource planning.
- Has experience obtaining project funding, preparing business cases, and managing vendor engagement.
- Strong documentation skills (BRDs, FRDs, process maps, and stakeholder decks).
- Familiar with Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.
4. Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge
- Deep understanding of communications surveillance obligations under MAR, MiFID II, Dodd-Frank, and SMCR.
- Awareness of conduct risk, market abuse, and data privacy implications.
- Can interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into technical and operational solutions.
5. Interpersonal & Soft Skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Confident working with senior compliance officers, IT architects, and project sponsors.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable in complex, matrixed banking environments.
