Last night in conjunction with Peter Wright, CEO and founder of Acorn Strategy Consulting, Investigo hosted the Making Talent Management a Competitive Advantage event at the elegant Andaz hotel in Liverpool Street, London.
Peter Wright is a truly global executive, highly skilled in leading organizations and executive teams through significant growth, crisis and business transformation. He has held senior positions in companies like Zurich Insurance, AIG, Estee Lauder, Merrill Lynch, BP, Allied Domecq and Unilever.
On Thursday 1st October, in excess of 40 Investigo clients from sectors as diverse as Investment Banking, Financial Services, Consumer, Media, Retail and Property & Facilities Management, enjoyed an insightful and entertaining evening. They had the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and build useful connections as well as, of course, listen to Peter’s thought provoking presentation.
Peter discussed Change Management, Integrated Talent Management, Leadership and Talent Acquisition and emphasized that talent management is now more important than ever to the success of any organisation because of two main reasons:
changing demographic of the world population
mass skills shortages which are predicted for the next 5- 10 years
He also mentioned the danger of a demographic ‘perfect storm’, an issue which 15 of the leading industrial nations of the world are going to soon face due to:
baby boomer generation retirement
generation X, Y and the Millenials leaving the corporate world or not joining it at all
poor diversity and inclusion strategies

The 2014 Boston Consulting Group report predicts that, by 2030, Germany will need 8 million people to fill the skills gap. Peter argued that this is why good talent management will become one of the competitive advantages for any business that strives to be successful. Finding ways to attract and retain top talent, as well as giving more importance to the company brand will become critical elements of every business that wants to improve its quality of hires and the company’s longevity.
