Job description
Senior Commercial Analyst required for established and successful business in the retail sector.
This is a commercial finance role and will give good exposure across the business with daily exposure to the Marketing, Purchasing, General Management and distribution functions.
You will be focusing on improving Margins across your Category by giving decision support through analysis and making recommendations to drive business performance.
Whilst reporting into the Head of Commercial Finance you will play an pivotal role in maximizing profit.
- Your specialist area will be margin, pricing and promotions. Price competitiveness is key for the business so the role will involve providing insights and analysis to the Commercial team on opportunities to enhance margin whilst remaining competitive. Promotional reporting and effectiveness, to aid in driving promotional sales and margin.
- Elements of weekly reporting are required, with a view to developing more automation and improving processes.
- You will provide analysis and financial support for selected product categories. This involves sales and margin analysis, managing promotional funding and retrospective supplier income agreements/ invoices and helping the commercial and supply chain teams better manage stock purchases.
- You will be expected to support with forecasting and budgeting month end accounting requirements and ad hoc commercial analysis.
- Be ready to step up and fill in for other team members and the Senior Commercial Finance Manager where needed.
- You will be responsible for one or more specialist areas in commercial finance which may cover Stock, Supplier Income, Pricing, Promotions, Product Range Analysis and anything else as determined by business needs. This includes improving your knowledge in that area, revising processes and improving reporting to the stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be qualified or at the finalist level and will have a good working level of Excel with exposure to Power BI being an advantage.
