Business Manager (Executive Assistant)

Permanent - Full Time

Hybrid - 2 days a week onsite from Central London (Moorgate)

£51,363 + generous Public Sector benefits

The Organisation

This unique independent, public sector body is responsible for upholding democracy and regulating voting and political finance across the UK. With a big year of elections ahead, and a new Chief Executive, this is an exciting time to join this organisation. The Opportunity

With the appointment of a new CEO, the organisation are looking for a new permanent Business Manager to support both them, and Chair.

As their most senior executive assistant, this role will be responsible for managing their office, leading and developing a team of 4 to provide the highest level of executive support. The areas of responsibilities for this role will focus on;

  • Understanding the corporate goals and priorities, how they impact the wider political landscape
  • Optimise schedules and workload of the Chair and Chief Exec for maximum efficiency and to ensure effective leadership.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure effective delivery of corp. strategy and goals, whilst keep the Chief Executive informed of relevant issues and shifting priorities.
  • Briefing Support through the preparation of comprehensive materials and research for meetings and events.
  • Manage communications and budgets of both the Business Support function and their International Budget.
  • Command the confidence of both senior leadership and staff, building and maintaining strong working relationships with a range of senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, including Cabinet Officials, Local Authority Chief Execs, MPs, Peers, EROs/Ros etc.

The Successful Candidate

We are looking for someone with;

  • Extensive experience of executive support to C-Suite within the Public Sector or Civil Service.
  • Strong interpersonal and communicative skills, both written and oral.
  • Understanding of how to navigate and communicate with tact, diplomacy and discretion within a sensitive, political environment.
  • Ability to juggle shifting priorities within a fast-pace, highly scrutinised, political environment.
  • Initiative and self-management, able to work with minimal supervision, take decisive action and proactively problem solve.
  • Practical line management experience of a small business support function.
