Continous Improement Lead

The Continuous Improvement Lead will guide a culture change through mentoring and coaching members of the team in continuous improvement ideologies and techniques.
The role will be responsible for planning and implementing multiple projects spanning several delivery teams within the group, acting as an internal consultant to implement improvement strategies. The individual will continuously challenge thinking and look for opportunities to improve business processes using recognised methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and Agile.
Core accountabilities:

  • Analyse and challenge existing business processes to find opportunities for improvement and identify losses, carrying out root cause analyses as required
  • Develop strategies by acting as an internal consultant for the team, incorporating Six Sigma, Agile, and other practices to facilitate progress and reduce waste
  • Monitor progress to ensure changes yield desirable results by establishing measurable standards at the start of a project and comparing actual results against these
  • Provide supervisory support and mentoring to staff to ensure culture change is maintained across the operation. Motivate and develop individuals to achieve high levels of performance and productivity with a flexible and integrated approach to cross-team working
  • Lead and coordinate key projects for improvement across all levels within the team. Supervise several teams directly and collaborate with managers to re-engineer processes.
  • Generate detailed update reports for management.
  • Communicate effectively across the stakeholder community (internal and external) to drive consistent understanding of objectives, scope, progress and delivery.
  • Working together with the wider Institute to develop new systems and tools to support improvement of sample and data processing, tracking and reporting.
  • Recognise anomalies, troubleshoot and deliver rapid solutions to prevent a decrease in output and quality, escalate as required
  • Adhere to a model of 'continuous improvement' to drive an operation forwards in the face of an ever changing landscape, promote and encourage team members to continually challenge all processes and mechanisms.
  • Oversee development of a continuous improvement training portfolio for team members and coach individuals to perform their roles effectively
