Head of Financial Accounting

The Head of Financial Accounting will be responsible for the leadership, coaching and development of a team of c30 people across various departments including financial accounts, tax and treasury and accounts payable. This will include the review of team deliverables, performance reviews, objective setting, talent development and succession planning.

Key responsibilities will include:

• lead and organise the entire year end process including the completion of external audit deliverables, production of financial statements, documentation to the audit committee and the creation of annual report.
• manage the balance sheet reconciliation review process, bringing fresh ideas to improve the current controls whilst ensuring compliance is delivered throughout the finance team through high quality reconciliations.
• preparation of cash flow and balance sheet forecasting, minimise interest payments and maximise interest deposits and have financial agility to maintain growth plans.
• driving continual improvement
• Ensuring tax compliance by effectively managing the internal taxation team

This person must have the ability to provide technical advice across multiple stakeholders with varying degrees of seniority and financial acumen. Using different communication styles this must be simple, concise and clear but also balance the commercial needs and understanding of the business to ensure we comply with our accounting policy requirements and where possible also meet the operational and commercial needs of the business. Ideally you will be an ACA qualified who has previous experience of managing a large team.
