Why this role matters


The Group Finance COE is a new function within Finance that is being established to help the Finance community maximise the value that we gain from our investment in SAP. This new function will lead the design, development and support of standardised SAC templates and dashboards that enable best in class reporting capabilities across the Finance organisation.

This important new role is strategic and technical in nature and will lead the team focused on building new, standardised reporting templates and dashboards, and rationalising our legacy reporting landscape.

You will be responsible for:
  • Driving the reporting rationalisation and standardisation agenda across Finance, leveraging knowledge of reporting best practice and maximising the usage of reporting systems and tools
  • Designing and delivering a reporting development roadmap that enhances the use of financial data and puts the right information in the hands of the right people at the right time
  • Influencing senior stakeholders (up to FD level) on adoption of the reporting roadmap and ability to successfully drive change across a wide group of stakeholders
  • Leading the SAC Reporting Development team in the design, development and support of standardised SAP and non-SAP reporting templates and dashboards that support strategic decision making


You are:
  • An experienced leader of Finance reporting development or support in a large organisation, with a strong track record of delivering high quality SAP reporting templates and dashboards
  • A commercially astute SAP advocate, comfortable discussing the commercial impact and return on investment of developing best in class SAP reporting capabilities
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and able to influence stakeholders to adopt change


What you'll be doing

  • Leadership of the SAC Reporting Development team, growing and motivating the team, setting direction and pace, and establishing standards and principles for delivery and engagement
  • Leading the design, development and support of reporting templates and dashboards that improve the level of reporting capability across Finance
  • Being a vocal advocate for SAP reporting capability development and the value-add that can be achieved from an efficient and effective system-based SAP reporting approach
  • Implementing best in class development practises to deliver flexible and versatile solutions
  • Managing reporting development projects, and providing updates on progress, risks and issue resolution
  • Working closely with the Group Finance Shared Services and Business Unit Finance leads to effectively manage reporting development requirements, delivering standardised outputs and pushing back on bespoke requests, where necessary
  • Partnering with Group Technology to ensure appropriate support for new reporting template and dashboard development projects (e.g. managing requirements into Technology for changes in the underlying CFIN or BW data structures)
  • Establishing robust checking and validation processes for reporting capability development with a zero-tolerance approach to technical error
  • Development of an Information Governance team to establish a Finance Reporting Catalogue, tracking and maintaining standard reporting across Finance
  • Building a high-performing team culture focused on quality and pace of delivery, recruiting top talent into open vacancies and developing individual team members
  • Maintaining a sufficient understanding of current performance trends across in order to ensure reporting capability developments support key commercial challenges


The skills & experience you need

  • Finance qualification (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Strong hands-on technical skills background (particularly SAC, AfO & BW) to enable clear direction and effective evaluation of SAP reporting capability design and development
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, able to act swiftly and decisively with confidence
  • Experience leading and growing an SAP reporting development or support function within a large organisation
  • Expert understanding of reporting capability development best practice
  • Brilliant stakeholder management and relationship building skills. Adept at interacting with senior leaders and adapting style to different audiences
  • Experienced in setting and driving reporting development strategy from the short to long term, and selling this in to key stakeholders to secure approval for delivery
