Job description

A very well known council based in zone 1 of London is seeking to recruit a Senior Network Engineer with strong Meraki and Cisco expertise, for an initial 6 month contract to start as soon as possible. This is role that requires you to be on site 1 day per week in central London with working 4 days remotely.

Essential experience you will need including leading on more junior team members where need be:

  • Deep understanding of network fundamentals: Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, coupled with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments
  • Proficiency in specific technologies: Expertise in Meraki SD WAN, Cisco ACI, Meraki Wireless, Palo Alto Firewall, Cloud, and datacentre solutions is essential for this role. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing these technologies
  • Communication and collaboration skills: Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members are essential for this role
  • Ability to troubleshoot: Candidates should demonstrate an aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving network issues, with a willingness to learn and develop their troubleshooting skills further
  • Experience with network management tools: Familiarity with tools such as Site24x7 for network monitoring and management is advantageous.
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively under pressure: Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to identify and resolve network issues promptly, particularly in high-pressure situations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day network operations: The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our network infrastructure, ensuring its availability, reliability, and performance
  • Collaboration with IT teams: Working closely with other IT teams, the Senior Network Engineer will collaborate on projects, share knowledge, and provide technical guidance to ensure the successful integration of network solutions
  • Development and implementation of improvement plans: This role involves developing and implementing network improvement plans to enhance efficiency, scalability, and security
  • Maintenance of network design documents: The Senior Network Engineer will create, update, and maintain network design documents to ensure accurate documentation of network configurations and topologies
  • Troubleshooting network issues: As a senior member of the team, the Senior Network Engineer will leverage their troubleshooting skills to address complex network issues promptly and effectively
  • Mentorship and guidance: The Senior Network Engineer will provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development and maintenance of network documentation: This role involves assisting in creating and maintaining network design documents to ensure accurate documentation of network configurations
  • Troubleshooting support: The Associate Network Engineer will support senior team members in troubleshooting network issues and resolving them effectively
  • Assist in planning, maintaining, and continuously improving the Council's technical architecture
