The Role

I am delighted to be working with this fantastic not-for-profit who have engaged me to help them to source their next Head of People Operations on a permanent basis.

The role is part of a team who are responsible for: accurate, on-time people operations delivery of all administrative, transactional and advisory services in line with policies and procedures, legal / statutory guidelines and agreed SLAs across the employee life cycle (recruitment, joining, pay and benefits, employment policy and employee relations, learning and development, data and insight etc). Working with directorate and organisational colleagues to ensure they have the right services to support the delivery of the organisation objectives and contributing to an inclusive culture where all staff can thrive.

Your challenge? To develop, coach and lead the People Operations Team. To work collaboratively with People directorate colleagues in Business Partnering, People Experience, and Learning. To be accountable and visible across the organisation, and ensure they design, deliver and drive engaging and efficient processes to support employee life cycle activities, ensuring HR legislation, policy and best practice is complied with. Work collaboratively with Business Partners and People Experience colleagues to create holistic HR data / MI, identifying trends and causes, to support people initiatives and interventions.

Are you the right person?

The successful candidate will be an excellent People Operations professional. They will be responsible for running compliant, customer-focused, agile and innovative people operational services to managers, employees and potential employees within budget, to agreed service levels & standards. A leader who can lead and design delivery processes to enable people operations to operate efficiently and with continuous improvement, encompassing service and process improvement, account management and service delivery reporting.

A key and active member of the People directorate leadership, developing, coaching and leading a team.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Significant proven experience of all aspects of the role, including best practice & trends across similar and relatable sectors, roles and organisations, with specific demonstrable experience of leading a team through transformation.
  • Significant proven ability to design operational processes, deliver and influence in a professional HR role involving continuous service improvement and provision of advice and support to managers and staff in a complex organisation.
  • Up to date knowledge and practical experience of HR policy, practice, legislation and compliance relating to the role
  • Demonstrated experience of working with current People technology solutions and leveraging their capability to deliver operation excellence and the people strategy and plan
  • Confident and well-developed verbal, written, analytical and presentation skills, including business case development, data analysis and insight project management and report-writing
  • Well-organised and efficient; able to manage own workload, and to plan and manage tasks to ensure that deadlines & SLAs are met under pressure, even when things changed. A flexible, pragmatic, systematic and customer-focused approach; able to deal appropriately with sensitive issues, and tailor solutions to fit circumstances.
  • A strong commitment to value for money and experience of financial management, budgetary control and of offering sound advice and assurance to senior leaders
