Store Development Manager, UK-wide

Client-side opportunity within a growing & profitable retailer looking to employ a Design Manager to take on the delivery of a new design roll-out and multiple programmes of work across a 1,000+ store portfolio that is continuing to see further investment & growth.

Up to £50,000 basic salary, company car, pension scheme and benefits.

The Brief

Responsibility for the tactical delivery of projects and day-to-day management of project activity for new stores for all concepts in the UK. You'll be creating development & design layouts along with feasibility analysis for new site selections. In doing so, ensure accurate estimation for project budgets for new shop construction as a result of each new store acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpreting current design standards within the global design standards function and embed these for your local market development.
  • Create complex and fresh designs with solid 3D layouts presentable with full costings for Board.
  • Budget management, tracking and reporting. Working closely with finance teams.
  • Administer orders and payments ensuring compliance to the company policies and Coda finance system.
  • Produce project timelines and schedule meetings
  • Tender and manage procurement of related services and goods such as contractors, joinery supply, lighting supply, flooring supply, building control consultants etc.
  • Lead meetings and projects and adhere to established processes.
  • External and internal communications, produce updates and timelines and issue to stakeholders.
  • Supply chain management to ensure direct supply items are ordered and available on time
  • Feedback into the overall process and help on-going development of best practice
  • Manage own workload, project work and co-ordination
  • Communicate proactively to internal stakeholders, external supply and contractor teams and produce management reports for Head of Shop Development
  • Write and review documentation to support projects
  • Implementation and workload planning

Experience and Qualifications

  • Exceptional design management capability with a proven track record of creating complex modern layouts and critically analysing technical drawings.
  • Proven management of external suppliers and contractors and demonstrate influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of tendering, negotiating and management through schedule of rates
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding and experience of related building compliance; CDM, H&S, building control, asbestos awareness etc.
  • Ability to interpret and create AutoCad plans
  • Building surveying experience advantageous.
